Mr. Oberdorfer (Mr. O) has taught History – European, United States, Latin American, and Alternate – in the Upper School since 1976. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Mr. Oberdorfer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of the South (Sewanee), as well as a Master of Arts in History and Certificate in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida. Believing that story-telling is the key to teaching, “Mr. O” has written two plays in addition to a collection of short stories illustrating central themes in European history. He is also the author of book reviews and teaching strategies. Outside of class, his interests include baseball, football, classical music, and science fiction. He prides himself on being the Academy’s resident Trekkie.
